Kerouac based this haunting tale on true reflections of his 1930s childhood growing up in the industrial milltown of Lowell, Massachusetts. As concentrations of evil gather aspiring to destroy mankind, Doctor Sax, alchemist of the night and friend of children, is the caped crusader who stands against the darkness.
