Description
Barbarians at the Gate recounts the events surrounding the 1988 leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco, the biggest history at the time, and widely considered to be a textbook example of corporate and executive greed. This story of high stakes, betrayal, and one-upsmanship begins when RJR Nabisco's CEO F. Ross Johnson chooses to buy out his own company to deflect shareholder backlash when an expensive project fails. This attempt ignites a power struggle between Johnson and Wall Street investment banker Henry Kravis, who intends to force Johnson out and take over RJR Nabisco himself. In this film, viewers used to looking in from the outside on high-profile leveraged buyouts and mega-buck financial struggles get an insider's perspective--and not just any insider--the man at the very top.
