Description
Like the previous volume in the series, the 47th volume of Now contains one Hot 100 number one single: Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," a piano ballad that held the spot for one week in April 2013. When the compilation was released, in early August 2013, five other songs had reached the Top 10: Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack," Selena Gomez's "Come & Get It," and Anna Kendrick's "Cups" (from the Pitch Perfect soundtrack), along with two of the more lumbering smashes of the early 2010s in Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" and Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive." Bulky but swift dance-pop, also represented by Zedd, Calvin Harris, and Jason Derulo, dominates once again. Country is shut out, and rap is represented only by Juicy J, who guests on Ke$ha's "Crazy Kids" (which appealed to very few, or perhaps zero, Three 6 Mafia fans). ~ Andy Kellman
