Description
At the center of life on the island of Castellamare is a café draped with bougainvillea. Called the House at the Edge of Night, it is where the community gathers to gossip and talk. Amedeo Esposito, a foundling from Florence, finds his destiny on the island with his wife, Pina. An indiscretion tests their marriage, and their children-- three sons and a daughter-- grow up through two world wars and a great recession, face the threat of fascism and bitter rivalries, and search for the power of forgiveness.
